Personal Statement

14 was my jersey number as a freshman on the varsity team.

14 was the age I was when I joined the team.

14 is my angel number signifying  …. balance, harmony, temperance and prudence. It also relates to unity and independence and is evidence of enthusiasm coupled with determination. My parents named me Brooke, after a bubbling brook, never standing still, always moving forward, overcoming obstacles or finding ways to navigate around them with a determined smile!

I needed all of these qualities to prepare me for the BIG move from my home country to NC in 2019 with 2 bags and one hockey stick!

Field Hockey has been part of my family for 3 generations now, my grandmother represented her Province (State) and both my mom and aunt played for their Universities and Country. I started playing when I was 7 years old and it has been a big part of my life.

I have enjoyed playing on the Asheville High School Varsity team, as a forward scoring 14 goals and 2 assist in the 2022 season. I was recognized as Offensive Player of the Year and All Conference 2nd Team, placed 35th as a Sophomore in the National Girls Field Hockey points on MaxPrep. Attending the Shooting Stars and WES Showcases has further fueled the competitive spirit.

I also run track to keep fit and do martial arts training to help me with mental toughness.

In the classroom my worth ethic is the same, I work diligently to stay on top of my studies, even when traveling late into the evenings to matches and track meets and have maintained a good GPA. I am also a dedicated vice president of the student council, where I represent my fellow students and lead by example.

I am looking to find a college with a strong academic program that also provides me with an opportunity to play field hockey at the collegiate level, to not only challenge me but allow me to have a balanced life of academics and participate in the sport I love at a competitive level.

I will continue to conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the field, in the classroom and as a part of my family, knowing that the way I carry myself reflects my team, my coaches, the school I attend and the family to which I belong. I am excited for what lies ahead for me.

By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
