Hello, my name is Katie Krupnick. I am sixteen years old, and I am currently a junior at The Asheville School in Asheville, North Carolina. During my junior season I was the starting center defensive midfielder, and saw full playing time during all of our 13 games. I was named to the North Carolina all conference team this Fall. I have also been a part of the NC TarDevils, a travel club team, coached by Donnae Farrington ([email protected]), for the past four years where I am primarily a defender. I was a U16 Captain, and now play for the U19 team.
Over the years I have worked hard to get to where I am as an athlete today. I view myself as a hard worker, constantly striving to redefine my personal best. My love of sports, and the community that surrounds them inspires me to put in the many hours of practice and cross training. As an athlete, I have the ability to lead and be lead. I feel comfortable stepping up into a leadership position both on and off of the field, but I am very coachable and work well with constructive criticism. I feel as if I have good field sense and vision. This vision from the back field has helped me to grow in my stick skills and decision making. I am a versatile player and can play with confidence anywhere on the field. At Festival in 2012, my coach put me in as defense to fill in for a hurt team mate; the change has stuck and defense has rapidly become my favorite position. I strive to have a positive can do attitude, a deeply determined yet easy going demeanor, and to always dig a little deeper and put my game face on.
I attend The Asheville School, a rigorous academic, college-preparatory boarding school in North Carolina. I am not just going through the motions, but I'm a fully engaged, hard working student athlete. I have learned how to study effectively, budget my time, and most importantly to love and appreciate the material taught. Going to a school like this has taught me the importance of balancing school and sports. I took two honors classes as a sophomore, and I am taking three AP classes as a junior. My GPA is strong, and I am on High Academic Honor Roll.
It is my dream to go to a college that fits who I am, and challenges me to become the person I want to be. Through hard work in athletics and academics I know that college will help prepare me for anything life throws my way, and I am ready to step up to the challenge.
