I have been playing field hockey since sixth grade and, upon completing my senior season, I will be a four-year varsity starter. As a freshman, I was the only one to make varsity and, to this day, this is one of my proudest achievements. Growing up, I played soccer, but on my arrival to my new school, Maumee Valley, I began playing field hockey. I fell in love with the sport right away and was fortunate to have good coaching and good success in it. I credit much of my initial success to field hockey’s similarity to soccer. My experience in soccer translated directly to field hockey as I discovered that I had an already developed sense of the field, good positional awareness, and knowledge of where other players should be. These qualities remain three of my biggest strengths. I am also strong when it comes to physical fitness: I am at the front of every run and every sprint we do in practice. In addition to these strengths, I am determined, dedicated, and I communicate well and constructively with my teammates. These skills have shaped me into the player I am today.
