Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Ava Waters and I am a 2023 Forward from Susquehanna Township, Pennsylvania. Since I first stepped onto the turf in sixth grade, field hockey has had a special place in my heart! Throughout my many years of playing, I have worked to improve not only my skills and playing habits, but my ability to work amongst a team and communicate! After joining a club team, I began to work harder on improving my playing and recognizing what routes I could take to play in College.
My major focus is continuing what I love and never losing myself in the mix. I have a great passion for reading and biology, and my goals are to continue through under-grad and med school in order to become a Psychiatrist, along with a minor in literature to maintain my passion for reading and writing. I feel as though many times, people lose focus of certain goals they have in order to accomplish another. But, I think I have a clear line of sight as to what I want to accomplish and how attainable it is for me.
I am an extremely determined and hard working student. Juggling school, multiple sports, and extra-curriculars can sometimes be a battle. But with my time-managing abilities and goal-oriented character, I am able to get everything I need done, with extra time to do things that I really enjoy such as reading and working on short-stories/ novels. As you can see, I work very hard to assure that I am doing things that I actually enjoy rather than not. Field hockey is something that channels and centers my emotions and it is a great outlet that I wish more people had to ability to enjoy! I will continue to work hard throughout college and for the rest of my life as long as I can always remember to stay true to myself and stay optimistic!
