Personal Statement
I am a class of 2025 goalkeeper for Fairfax High School and Husel Hockey Club, both in Fairfax, VA. My first experience with field hockey was through a camp that my current high school team puts on every spring. I liked it and continued to do camps throughout elementary school as a field player. Eventually, in 6th grade, I joined a travel team and rotated into the goalkeeper position as our team did not have a dedicated goalkeeper. I loved it! From there, I made the U12 NIT team that year and transitioned to a full time goalkeeper in 7th grade.
Playing field hockey, and being a goalie in particular, has become a passion of mine. Not only is it just a lot of fun to play and to compete, but it has taught me life lessons that are important on and off the field. I've learned a lot about the importance of teamwork and building positive and supportive relationships with my team. It has taught me resilience, by requiring me to bounce back quickly from mistakes. Being a goalie has also allowed me to take a leadership role on the field. All of these things have made me more confident in my position and in life.
I am looking for a team that competes at a high level and provides a positive, supportive environment. I work hard, am very coachable, and would contribute to the team, both in position and as a support for my teammates.
I currently have a 4.2 GPA and I take my classes seriously. I am a hard worker and hope to pursue a pre-dental path. I am a part of the Green Club, Glass Recycling Network, and the Forensics Speech and Debate Club.
