To the fan, spectator or critic athletic accomplishment is measured in wins and losses. That is probably a fair criteria to those who do not or cannot participate in the pursuit of athletic excellence. To me, however, athletic pursuit cannot be measured so simply. There is no measure, as far as I've found, that can properly and fully assess the journey of working toward a common goal with a team. I find the greatest satisfaction in the journey. Football is about so much more than what happens on a fall Friday or Saturday. It's about the process of growth as an individual and a team. It's about building a common bond with a group of people who make excellence their aim. My goal is to find that team where I can contribute to the pursuit of excellence.
I like to see others succeed and I like to be a part of creating that success. I believe it takes more than an individual's athletic ability to drive a team toward success. I believe it takes teammates helping each other; motivating, inspiring, and pushing each other to achieve more than they thought they could alone. I seek opportunities to add that value as a teammate.
I don't know that I'm different from other recruits in character, athletics, and academics. I'm sure there are many recruits equally or more qualified in these areas. I simply love the chase for excellence and, in some way, I believe I can add value to a team focused on such things.
