Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Jackson Richard. I just completed my senior year as quarterback at Madison County High School in Gurley, Al. Our team had the best year in our schools history, going 12-2 and making it to the 4A quarterfinals for the first time ever. I was named first team All-State Quarterback, Offensive MVP of our region and the QB on the Huntsville Times Elite 11 team. I passed for over 3,000 yards with 43 Touchdowns and a 78% completion ratio. Our offense accounted for 623 points in 14 games. My Senior highlights can be viewed on Hudl. The film here is from my Freshmen thru Junior years. I started 42 of 44 games at quarterback in my high school career and was a team captain this past season. As a junior at Madison
County High School in Gurley, Alabama. I
have a 4.0 GPA, and I am taking pre-AP classes as I work toward my Advanced
Diploma. At this point in my career
planning, I am considering either a degree in business or, possibly, in
education. I would like to coach at the
high school level.
I am the starting quarterback for the varsity team. I have started 28 out of 30 games at the
varsity level, beginning my freshman year.
I have also played at strong safety in the last three games of my junior
year. At that position, I had three
interceptions, one of which I returned for a touchdown. I have been the holder on extra points my
sophomore and junior years. I was on the
kick-off team as a gunner for several games my junior year.
To improve my skills, I attended the Peyton Manning Passing
Academy and two Tony Franklin Systems Camps.
At the end of my sophomore and junior seasons, I was the
All-Area Honorable Mention Quarterback for my eight-team area.
I was the point guard on the varsity basketball team for my
sophomore and junior seasons. In both
years, I was All-Area and on the All-Area Tournament Team. Our
team was ranked 7th in the state for the 5A classification.
I am a student leader in the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes. I am often asked to present a
motivational lesson for this group and for my football team. I am also active in the Lads to Leaders
program at my church. Each year, I
travel to Nashville to compete in the speech competitions held for churches
across the southeast. Last summer, I went on a mission trip to
Honduras where we built homes for the people of a small village there.
I am working hard to build my skills in preparation for the
next level of athletics. I am looking
forward to competing at the collegiate level.
I think I can bring both skills and leadership to any team I am
fortunate enough to be a member of.
