My name is Cason Cook, and I am currently a Senior at Marengo Academy in Linden, Alabama. I have been starting at defensive end on the varsity team since eighth grade. As a freshman, I started every game at defensive end, tight end and special teams for the 2012 season. With only one senior, our varsity team was still able to make it into the Alabama AISA play-offs and through to the semi-finals, followed by winning the Alabama AISA 1A State Championship in 2013 and finishing 2nd place in 2A for the 2014 season as well as 2nd place once again in 2A for the 2015 season. The 2015 season was nearly a Cinderella story has our team went through 4 head coaching changes over the summer and into the first two games of the season. Yet we got to within 6 seconds and one pass from nearly knocking off Edgewood Academy and breaking their 70 game winning streak. Being from the south, I have been exposed to sports all my life. My father was an outstanding athlete in high school, so he has instilled a competitive drive in me to be the best I can be at what I do. Hard work is never something I shy away from, so I will do what it takes to achieve success both on the field, off the field and in the classroom. My love of the sport certainly comes with the knowledge that there is always room to grow, so in the off-season my focus is on improving my strength, speed and agility. I am a quick thinker and reactor on the field, but I am also coachable and able to use constructive criticism to gain additional knowledge and ability. As a team player, I am looking forward to participating in the right program and using the opportunity wisely to support my teammates, play the game I love, and build a future to be proud of.
