Personal Statement
Perfect Combination. Athletics and Academics. I excel both on the field and in the classroom. As a junior linebacker, I led my team with 123 tackles.Additionally, I lead the team in sacks. I am the 3rd leading tackler in Alabama Class 7A, one of the toughest and most competitive regions in the country. Academically, I have a 4.1 GPA, am currently enrolled in AP courses, a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the Student Government Association.
We run a 3-3-5 defense and I primarily play inside linebacker but will also play outside linebacker in certain situations. I believe my intellectual, athletic, and leadership skills contribute tremendously to the success of my team. This year, I was selected by my teammates to serve on the “Player Committee”, an athlete-led committee comprised of 12 players who meet weekly with the coaching staff to address player related issues and concerns. Also, my coaches love my leadership abilities as well as my work ethic. My linebacker coach often tells me after he grades our film, whether from practice or a game, that he “struggles to find mistakes and loves my effort.”
As a student, I am very dedicated to my studies. I was selected to participate in the Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP) a program designed to identify academically gifted students and provides them with opportunities to support our development. All of my core classes are advanced and I scored a 27 on the December 2014 ACT. I will retake the ACT in April 2015 and my goal is to score a 30. Although I enjoy many classes, Math and History are two in which I excel naturally. My desire is to major in Accounting and eventually pursue a Law degree.
