Personal Statement
I'm a 6'1", 190 lb. Senior at Valley Head High School in Valley Head, AL. I was the Captain for my team this year. I have started on the varsity team for the last four years. During that time, I have played on every side of the ball. I played TE, WR, LS, KR, OLB, DE and S this year. I've also played RB in previous years. Each experience has given me an opportunity to develop new skills and abilities. During my Senior season I had 36 receptions for 569 yards and 6 TDs. I also had over 450 yds in KRs and an 85 yard KR TD. I had two interceptions with one returned 52 yards for a TD. I feel I've given 100% this year on both offense and defense. Some nights I played every snap and I have loved every minute of it. I was honored on my 18th birthday, October 7, 2011, to play my Senior Homecoming game. That night I had 6 receptions for 161 yards and 3 TDs. This gave me a "nod" on the Alabama High School Athletic Association Prep Spotlight as well as Scout.com "Top Performers" in Alabama for week 7. Following that game I was also selected as a WQSB Super 7 Player. WQSB is the radio station that covers almost 200 football teams throughout all of North Alabama.
When this season ended, I knew that I was not ready to end my football career. I played with some great guys. Some of us have played together since the second grade. We have been like a family. I would love the opportunity to experience that "family" again at the collegiate level. I believe I could experience this "family" at any college. So what school and where doesn't matter so much as the opportunity to play. I've worked hard to be a leader on and off the field. Not only did I serve my team mates on the field, I also have served my peers as President of the Student Council and The Bible Club. I try my best to lead by example. I hope someday to be a leader in the workforce. I plan to either teach or have a career in coaching or sports medicine or a smilar field. I plan to take some general courses my first year, work closely with my school counselors and map out a plan for how I will spend my "working and career days". While I'm getting my education I hope to play football at the next level. I've been told I'm quick and physical, but I know I can learn much more and develop my talent on the field with coaching and lots of hard work.
