Personal Statement
I've had the desire to play football since the age of 4 while watching my older brother play and win the Nationals. Going to Nationals with my youth football team some years later helped set the stage for the my personal goals in the sport. I have played a few offensive positions with most of my experiences being on the defensive side of the ball as a D-lineman and linebacker, where my passion lies.
This sport has taught me many things over the years. It helped me be more grounded in my foundation of showing respect to others, especially my elders and how to be a team player. I've also learned how to lead others on and off the field. I've learned to set and achieve goals. During high school I plan to earn an accumulative G.P.A of 3.5 or higher and I want the same for my G.P.A during college. Playing the game has also helped me better understand my strengths and weaknesses. While I haven't had many obstacles to overcome as I have been blessed to have very supportive and loving parents by my side the whole way, I have had to work a little harder than most in the classroom because some material doesn't come as easy to me as it may for others. This struggle has also helped me though, as I have learned perseverance and how to overcome such obstacles. This has helped me be a strong, hard worker with a "no quitting attitude" in all areas of my life especially in football. I am a fun and supportive team mate but I also shine at being a hard hitter, completing down hill tackles and having superb angling tackles. My coaches have helped me learn and execute great tackling form, good footwork and hand fighting skills. I excel playing in space and I am a hard hitter. These skills among others have enabled my flexibility in playing inside and outside linebacker equally well. My goal is to take what I have gained and will continue to gain to the next level, one level at a time. These skills along with my experiences as a captain and overall team player will allow me to the player and leader you are looking for on your team.
