Dear Prospective Coach,
My name is Johnathan Hart, I am 6'4", 225 lb Tight End. I am an Honor Roll student completing Honor classes. I earned my Athletic Letter in Football and my Academic Letter as a Freshman I play both offense and defense as Tight End and Defensive End
I was first drawn to the sport when I watched Aaron Rodgers and his supporting cast light up the field in Super Bowl XLV. Rodgers' arm and ability to hit his players in that game paved the way for me to understanding and playing football. I started flag in the 5th grade and then got my start in tackle in 7th grade playing up on the 8th grade team. If it wasn't for that moment my love for the game would not be what it is today.
I feel I grew the most as a student-athlete in the summer going into my freshman year when I broke my tibial tuberosity in summer basketball/football conditioning. With my Doctor’s approval, I decided to hop on the bus and go with the team to summer football camp in a straight leg brace. This turned out to be great opportunity for me to get to know the team and coaches. My coaches all commented on how nice it was for me to come to camp knowing I would not be able to do anything during football camp. The difficult part was yet to come, I had to sit out half of the season due to the injury. When I was cleared to play, I was not only better prepared by going to the camp, I had built trust with the players and the coaches which in turn gave me more opportunities out on the field.
My goal, during my junior and senior year, is to be the best football player and student I can be and earn a scholarship playing the game I love. I know I have the experience, drive, discipline and commitment to excel on the field and in the classroom. I look forward to earning the opportunity to play for a great football program and receiving an excellent college education.
I want to complete a business or engineering degree in college and use it to support a family of my own. I am a good student and work hard to keep my grades up. I am an Eagle Scout and from that experience I learned organization skills, how to manage a team and a project , how follow through and be more responsible. I am faithful in my church and don’t participate in drinking and smoking.
I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program. As a two-sport athlete and an accomplished student, I know that I have what it takes to be a leader on your team!
