Personal Statement
Although I have only been playing football since Freshman year, I have become a true student of the game. I watch endless hours of film to take notes on not just how the defense works, but how I can improve as a lineman. I sought out and have been working with a private offensive line coach twice a week for nearly a year now and also work with a private personal trainer to become stronger, faster, and bigger. My coaches tell me that I am the most coachable player they have ever coached. I am fiercely loyal to my team who we call "family" and do everything I can to not let my 'family' down. My goal is to take the next steps to a collegiate level football program and continue to grow as an athlete.
Academically, I am equally tenacious. I am well-known in my classes as a person who asks questions--no matter what. My mother is a teacher so I am very tune with the fact that asking questions is not a sign of weakness-rather it's a desire to learn. One of my academic passions is architecture. It is my favorite class. My desire is to attend college to become an attorney specializing in architectural law.
In addition to what I do on the field and in the classroom, I am an active volunteer in my community for the Arizona Parent Teacher Association. I am the Youth Committee Chair for the entire state. I have created and conducted workshops geared specifically toward teens and even ran my first Youth Summit at our State Convention last year. This year, I will be holding quarterly meet ups with teens around the state to hold workshops on how teens can engage and advocate in the civic process as well as issues that affect kids in our age groups.
Attending and excelling in college is where all of these roads are leading me. I am open to all collegiate options to find the best fit for me so that I can achieve my academic and athletic goals. Being an example to my little brother and being a positive representation of my family (and my 'family') is very important to me.
