Personal Statement
Hi, I am Kenyon (ken-yawn) Jackson and I am currently a junior at Parkview Arts and Science High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. I am a three year defensive tackle starter for my football team. In my three years of high school ball, I have given everything plus some to be the best player on and off of the field.
It is my goal to be part of a D1 team in college adding my intense work ethic to help the team achieve their goals. I want to make a difference not only on the team, but in the classroom as well as the campus. My personality has been characterized by many, including teachers and friends as a big teddy bear with a great smile. That changes when I hit the field, according to my coaches. According to them, I turn into a grizzly bear.
What makes me different from other recruits is my love and passion for the game of football. When I was just a couple months old, my dad put a football in my bed and soon after that a helmet. When I was able to walk, he had me catching the ball and getting into a stance. This passion for the game makes me work harder than most because I will not settle for average. Also, because of my passion I have become a team leader. My coaches, teachers, classmates, and especially my teammates look to me to make the right decisions and give them positive guidance and encouragement.
I will not tell you I am academically brilliant, but I am well capable of of doing my work and getting the grade point I need to be a great addition to your school and team. I work hard in school because I know an education is the key to success and after all the sports and the fans have gone away, it will be what I've learned academically that will take me where football can't sometimes.
