Personal Statement
My name is Jermarcus Arnold and I am a sophomore at Lee High School in Marianna, Arkansas. I'm the starting running-back on the varsity team. I have dedicated the last five years of conditioning myself both physically and mentally to my athletic career. I have always had dreams of becoming a great NFL player, but having dreams wasn't enough. I had to put in the work when no one else was there to push me. I played pee wee football from 2009-2011, where we won two championships. I recognized immediately that I had a natural ability for the sport. But like any good craftsman; I needed to work on developing my craft. I began to play varsity ball for my local junior high school and attending Razorback football camps in Fayetteville, AR. But it did not stop with the camp.
My leadership skills rose to the top once I returned back home to my local team. I was able to impart the necessary skills and dedication needed to help mold us into a better team. I recognized at a young age that the skills I possess are not solely for me but for my entire team. I continued to work hard on and off the field to make myself more accessible. I also play basketball, run track,and play baseball during the summer. That's another way that I stay in shape.
I understand that I have to Practice and work hard in the classroom which is why I am attending a college prep ACT program and a afterschool tutoring program to help with academics. I am the first player at practice and the last one to leave. I am constantly looking for ways to improve myself as a player. I strive hard to live what I practice with healthy eating habits, respectful mannerisms, and a lifestyle that is conducive to that of a football player. Because football within its self is an outreach for many youth, I must be mindful of the way I conduct myself in the community so that I do not give the wrong impression of an athlete to those who are younger. I am a faithful member of Boys II Men: During off season, I also volunteer with the pee wee team that I started with to help the younger boys develop good habits and skills.This also helps me to sharpen my skills and develop healthy relationships within my community.
I have the talent to go to a top college, but because of the small town that I'm from we don't get exposed like a larger city would. but this year I will be attending several combines to get better exposure. I'm confident in my talent; I'm not your average running back or athlete. I'm confident in my talent , and if you've seen me play, you know why. I'm an all-around running back , I can do whatever you ask me to do as an athlete. Whichever college I choose to go to, will not be disappointed.
