Personal Statement
I first heard of Eric Thomas about a year ago. One of his quotes that stood out to me was "Fall in love with the process, and the result will come". I admire this quote so much because it applies to every aspect in my life such as, football, academics, and becoming a better me. My name is LaVar Anthony Seay and I'm 17 years old. I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I spent half of my life in Oklahoma and the other half in California. The school I attend is American Canyon High School as a senior. Through my academic career at American Canyon High School, I haven't been the finest student.
My academic career didn't start out too well. My freshman year I struggled. I had difficulties staying focused, turning assignments in late and the biggest of all procrastination. The first semester of my freshman year I earned a F in my Spanish class. That was the first F I have ever received. Although the following semester I earned a B in Spanish, I received a D+ in Biology. That following summer I knew something had to change. I changed my mindset and got myself together. Every year since then my GPA has improved. I finished sophomore year with a 2.8. Junior year came and I finished with a 3.1. So senior year I am expecting to get a 3.4 GPA or higher so I can be accepted into a great four year institution.
I've always like football since I was a little boy. Unfortunately I didn't start playing on actually team until I was in the fifth grade. Once I got to high school I started taking football more serious. I started to put in the extra work and fix the little things that I do wrong. That is what you'll get out of me. You will get hard work, dedication, leadership, a great student, and a team player. I tend to put people in front of myself, especially my teammates. One thing that drives me is when people say I can't do something. Especially on the football field. I will do everything in my power to prove them wrong. And strive to be the best football player I can be.
