Personal Statement

Hello College Coaches & Staff,

My name is Zach Stiver, I am a senior at Rio Hondo Prep High School in Arcadia California, where I will graduate in 2014. I have played football since I was six years old, my high school career has been at the OL and DL positions because that is where my team needed me.  I am 5’9” 225 pounds, run the 40 in 5.1, bench 300 and dead lift 350.

I have contributed to my team’s success by being a leader and dedicated to making our team the best it can be.  I have started on OL/DL varsity squad since my sophomore year and was Captain my senior year contributing to back to back CIF championship wins in my sophomore and junior year and advancing to the State Regional Playoff Game.  I was the only returning starting linesman my senior year and I helped get the squad into the mental and physical shape needed to get our team to our third consecutive semifinal CIF game losing to the eventual champion of our division.

My senior year I was awarded All State Second Team for Defense, League MVP, First Team All-League for Defense, First Team All-CIF for Defense and was awarded All-Area honors.  In my junior year I earned First Team All-League for Defense and First Team All-CIF for Defense.

I have coached younger kids in football, baseball, basketball and soccer since I was in junior high.  Coaching is one of the most satisfying things that I have ever done.  Helping people is a true love for me and something that makes me feel good and something I want to continue to do.  What changed my life was in 10th grade when I was an assistant coach for one of the 3rd grade boy’s football teams, I was asked by the head coach to be the offensive coordinator. Being offered this position was a huge honor and responsibility.  I took the job and I came to find out that not only did I really enjoy it, I was good at it.  My 3rd grade team won the championship that year.

Playing college football is a dream and a goal of mine and I’m doing everything I can to make that a reality.
