Personal Statement
My name is Neville Richardson, class of 2021. I excel at football because it gives me the platform to express myself. I believe the way you play and engage your coaches mirror your lifestyle. Success is earned by a whole group of people working toward a common goal through adversity. Although I am usually amongst the youngest on my team, I've triumphed over great adversity in my own life. This resilient spirit translates to sports.I have a strong work ethic and leadership qualities that push me to be accountable and hold my teammates accountable. I know I can outsmart and outwork anyone and put my team in the best position to succeed. I am extremely coachable because I never want to miss an opportunity to better myself in whatever role I must play at the moment. I enjoy setting the tone and pace of the game to give my team the best opportunity to win.I enjoy sacking the quarterback ,stuffing the run and creating turnovers the most.I start mostly at defensive end and linebacker but I have no problem dropping back into coverage and catching the offense off guard. On offense I start at left tackle and can also play tight end or full back.Knowing you opened the hole to allow the running back to run for the touchdown is equally rewarding as if I scored it myself because we are all one mighty fist.
Playing multiple sports (Football and Basketball) has given me great insight on impacting my team's success. I can do this with or without the ball by engaging my teammates on and off the court/field. I know there are things that translate to every sport. Those things include understanding the game within the game and being mentally and physically prepared. Paying attention to detail and finishing the play even if a teammate doesn't fulfill his role. This allows you to encourage each other and lead by example. Constant communication is extremely powerful between coaches, players, medical staff and anyone supporting the process. Lastly, you have to visualize your desired results before you can consistently execute them. These practices and habits contribute to my success.Last year my Varsity Basketball Team made it to the state championship.I expect to help lead both my football and basketball team there this year.
