I am currently a junior at West Valley High School in Cottonwood California. I have been playing football for 5 years now. I started football in the 8th grade and played on an Undefeated Pop Warner team my first year. Freshman year, I received MVP for Offensive Tackle. I was moved up to the Varsity level as a sophomore and have started at Offensive Tackle, and have also played Defensive Tackle for each year since.
This past 2012 season, I received multiple awards: Outstanding Offensive Lineman, All-League Offensive Tackle, All-Section Offensive Tackle, All Record Searchlight Team and MaxPreps Offensive MVP (CBS Sports).
I feel very honored to have received all of these awards. My ultimate goal is to help my team win a section championship in 2013 and earn a spot in the state playoff bracket.
West Valley High School competes at the D1 level, but plays for the D2 section championship. In 2012, our team defeated 3 D1 schools in our area including D1-NAL Section Champions Enterprise High School; 24-21, in the regular season. We also triumphed over very competitive McClymonds High School in Oakland, CA; 20-18. They went on to the D4 State Bowl and won their section.
Football season for me is year round. I utilize a personal trainer (Richard Harris) four days a week. We work on speed, agility and weight training. Richard Harris is also our teams’ strength coach. I will continue training with Richard until I graduate from high school and move on to the Collegiate Athletic level.
I enjoy helping to make a difference in my community, often volunteering at Happy Valley Elementary school. I help at sporting events, dances and fundraisers. I coach the discus and shot-put throwers during their track and field season. I have also coached youth basketball for the Anderson city recreation league.
I am currently enrolled in Leadership class at West Valley high school. I create and direct the weekly video bulletin for my school. Leadership takes part in multiple food and blood drives throughout the course of the year. Making a positive difference in less-fortunate people’s lives is important to me.
I am currently taking the required classes to meet the clearing house requirements for acceptance at a four year college. I work very hard in my studies and achieve a current GPA of 3.83. I plan on studying in the field of Biology or Criminal Justice in college. I look forward to the challenges and excitement that college will bring. I am a goal oriented and dedicated student athlete that strives for excellence not only on the football field but also in the classroom.
