Zach Newberry '11 Recruiting Profile

I am Zach Newberry and for these past four years I have played quarterback for San Lorenzo Valley High School. During that time, the teams I have played on were undefeated in league games. Last year as a junior back up quarterback I received all-league honorable mention and was elected captain by my team and coaches. This year in 11 games, I passed for 1708 yards and 22 touchdowns, ran the ball for 380 yards and 7 touchdowns, and was chosen as all-league quarterback and the league offensive player of the year. Personal stats: I am 6'00" and 190 pounds. I also run track when I'm not playing football or wrestling, and my personal best is a 4.7 for the 40 meter dash, 11.9 for the 100 meter, and 24.4 for the 200 meter. My max bench press: 270 pounds, max squat: 300 and max power clean: 225 pounds. I have a 2.8 cumulative GPA, but that doesn't tell the whole story, because my grades are getting better the past year and a half. I have a 3.6 GPA this year alone. Besides playing sports and working hard as a student, I am active in my church as an acolyte and participate in our church youth group, preparing food for the homeless. One of my life goals is to work in a service agency in some capacity in my spare time, helping those less fortunate than I. My greatest asset I brought to the football team this last year was being a leader. I always ran my sprints hard and led by example to the best of my ability. It has been my goal through high school to play on the next level, but after the final whistle in my last game I knew I couldn't let that be the end. Football is my passion and I would love to keep playing. I want to go anywhere I can play football. I will play at whatever level I can and give everything I have to the team.
