Personal Statement
Dear College Coach’s,
Hi. My name is Mose Vavao and I am here to talk about why football is so important to me and also what drives me to participate in the sport. I live in Newark, California, I play offensive line, and I am the oldest boy between my siblings. I work hard on the field and in the classroom, and I am a humble guy who listens to my coaches, teachers, and parents and always is respectful. As far as football goes, I see myself as a player that speaks with my pads,. I let my actions and accomplishments speak for themselves as to who I am and what I am about. I want to win and will do whatever it takes to get my team a victory. I hope to continue to play football and expand my talents at the college level. I am devoted to provide for my team in any way I can and to work hard to ensure a secure future for myself academically and athletically.
First off, when I was 6 years old I started to play football for a youth league at my dad’s high school and I loved it. I loved the atmosphere of being on a team where every teammate is playing for each other to get a win. I remember the excitement of making a tremendous play and the awesome feeling of winning a football championship. I remember learning the importance of being an offensive lineman, and its job to protect the quarterback during a pass play or make a hole for the running back, and I grew fond of taking control of the defensive lineman. From then on, I knew that this was the sport that I would try to play for as long as I could.
As I grew older and played more of the game, I realized how important it is to have a passion towards football, and to have a good hard-working mindset with the idea that there is no “off season.” I know that to be able to go far in this sport, you need to adopt an aggressive perspective towards working out and perfecting technique to get ahead of your opponent. And with that being said, I would do everything possible to get myself to be the best possible student athlete I can be, so that I can help my team get ahead of our opponents to ensure us a win. Thank you coach for taking the time to read my statement and I hope that you find my words true and admirable.
Thank You,
Mose Vavao
