Personal Statement
Why should I be considered into your program? Well, I have many attributes I feel would help your program. Not only on the field, but off in the school and community as well. I am smart, caring, and resilient; three things that have carried me far in life.
My football IQ is naturally high. It also helps that I’ve played this game since I could walk. I know things that most kids would not be able to see because they don’t have the experience or the smarts. I am able to breakdown many things that normal kids won’t see before, during, and even after plays. Before the play starts I check body language, linemen pushing down heavy in their stance, running back leaning or keeps looking a certain direction, quarterback eyes staying too long on a certain spot in the defense, things of those nature. The little details an average kid won’t process is what gives me an edge over most competition. In my championship game I noticed the tackle on my side was a couple of inches more to his outside so I instantly became suspicious. Also, their best player had been shifted in the backfield so my brain automatically thought run to my side. I shifted a couple of steps to my left to give the allusion that I had not noticed then when the play started I exploded into the gap before the linemen could even touch me and disrupted the entire play causing the running back to run right into our 300+ pound nose guard. Then, being smart and level-headed during the play is something I pride myself on. Seeing the way linemen either step forward for a run or stepping back for a pass. Pullers coming from one side and meeting them before they expect because I stayed vigilant, a huge advantage. Then after the plays I search for anything the opposition will give me that helps me have a better idea of the next play. Body language, certain code words I hear more than once, even watching the signals the other team’s coach gives. Though its not just on the field that I use my intelligence. I strive to keep my grades above a 3.5 gpa and I have great support from my family, friends, coaching staff, and teachers. My competitive nature carries over to my academics. I love being the top student in every class. Even in my math class which I truly don’t enjoy; I study to the point that I can walk in on test day and feel confident about it and get my test back with an A. Being intelligent isn’t the only thing I pride myself on. I love the fact that I am considered a caring person.
