Personal Statement
My name is Logan Berzins and I am a 3 Star, 6’4” 285 lb Offensive and Defensive starting varsity Lineman at Cathedral Catholic High School (CCHS) in San Diego, CA. I was recently honored in being selected for the Cal-Hi All State, All Western League Team, All-CIF San Diego Team, SD Union Tribune Scholar Athlete—All San Diego Scholar Athlete Team, and Union Tribune “Players to Watch” for 2019. Additionally, a Spotlight article was published in the SD Union Tribune on the Cathedral Catholic Dons O-Line. My football team is CIF San Diego champion and CIF Regional champion in 2018 and CIF Division IAA State Runner-up for 2018. I was also selected as the 2018 Cathedral Catholic "Big Man" Offensive Lineman of the Year award for our state championship run with CCHS being the 40th ranked team in the nation. I think that my dedication and talent would be a great match for your football program.
I am currently a Junior at CCHS. I have been on the varsity football team for all three years and started on the varsity football team for both my sophomore and junior years. Here is a link to my Twitter account with my Junior Highlights (@B2020Logan), my HUDL profile and videos http://www.hudl.com/profile/8098119 I have a 4.51 GPA and am a member of the National Honor Society and National English Honor Society. I am also a recipient of the Michael Timmons and Robert E. Trometter scholarships. I have a rigorous schedule which includes 4 AP classes. I play rugby, baseball, and track and field in addition to football. I really enjoy skiing, fishing, hiking, video games, and target shooting. I am scheduled to take the ACT test on February 9th.
I believe my God-given talents include my strength mentally, physically, and of character. As a young child, I was able to help my peers not by bullying or harming, but instead aiding or helping them. I plan to use my strength in the future in sports, especially football and rugby, as well as throughout college and later life. My strength of character will guide me to make good choices in my personal life so that I may act in a way that is confident, ethical, and compassionate, giving what I can to my community. I believe compassion helps me understand the problems and situations of others and how it relates to their attitude and feelings. By understanding what another is going through, it is easier to help them. This talent will carry forward and aid me with patients in the profession of medicine if that is where I end up. With motivation and mental strength, I will possess the drive to succeed academically so that I can achieve my goals.
