Personal Statement
My name is Mathew Melton, and I'm currently a senior enrolled at Golden West High School in Visalia, California. What makes me different from other athletes is my perseverance. After three years of weight-training from my coach, former Fresno State football player and graduate Adam DeCosta, I am striving to get stronger, faster, and better as a student-athlete each day. I am 215 pounds, I can squat 405 lbs., bench-press 235 lbs., and can power-clean 225 lbs. I currently play nose-guard/defensive tackle, and can play defensive end; with #65 as my jersey number. However, I can see potential in me playing linebacker, or as defensive back as well. As my hard-work and dedication grows in football, so does my academics as it stands at a 4.0 G.P.A. My main goal is to play at the next level, be a positive influence for a team, and to not only grow as a person for myself; but for my teammates as well.
