Personal Statement
Hi Coach,
You're probably going to read a lot of personal bios but none will be as honest as mine.
I want to go to college and the way for me to do that is to play football and earn my spot. My parents don't make a lot of money but they've instilled hard work, loyalty, and dedication into my character while supporting my football career. The team I choose to play for will receive 100% of my time and effort on and off the field. The University will be my home and I plan to honor my new family by earning a degree while helping the team perform to its optimum level.
I'm a fun, well-liked guy but I don't mess around. Voted Team Captain, I lead by example and always strive to do the right thing. If I had to choose a professional football player who I emulate it would be J.J. Watt both on and off the field. On the field, he's intense and laser-focused on his job. Off, he's a fun person and a great role model. Like, J.J., I also have a "little" brother who is as talented as I am if not more. He is Class of 2026, is 6'3" and weighs 200 lbs. He's an insane Middle Linebacker. We would love to keep playing together. We were both voted All-Conference Honorable Mention this year.
My father, a football Coach, has taught us the game. I have a high football IQ and take pride in my ability to play as well as lead.
None of us know how far our bodies will take us in this game. I will play football as long as I can but education is even more important important. I will be the first in my family to earn a full degree which will allow me to be a Paramedic and Trauma Nurse. I won't lie, my first two years of high school were not the best academically. After transferring to a larger school with more stimulating academic options I brought my GPA up from a 2.2 to a 3.0. For the first time in my life, I made the honor roll and have maintained a 3.75 or higher every semester since. Last semester, I finished with a 3.9. I hope to graduate with 18 college credits, my first EMS 1 certificate, and a 3.2 CUM GPA.
If my words speak to you, I'd fully welcome the chance to get to know you and your team.
With sincerity,
Nolan "Norad" Radney
