My name is Fernando Ayona and I am currently in senior year. When I don't have a helmet on you can find me playing the guitar or piano. Music is a way for me to connect with people and myself. Music can bring people together and bring a feeling of euphoria. It resonates with me by allowing me to leave all my problems in the notes, to destress, and release my worries. I consider myself a helpful person, even through gestures as small as listening. I pick up around the house and babysit my little sister. Every day I search to find myself and my purpose.
Football is an integral part of who I am and the path I lead. I started playing in the seventh grade and it turned my life around. My grades were not the best and I struggled in class. When I was introduced to football it gave me the structure I needed. My grades started to improve and my coaches guided me to improve my behavior in class. It encouraged me and allowed me to see myself as a leader both on the field and in life. When my coach asked for volunteers to step up to our varsity players, I had the confidence to be the first to step up. I have been facing more challenges and use my voice. I take initiative to shout out who I am blocking on the field and tell my teammates who they should block. I voice suggestions on plays and give advice to my JV teammates. I overall strive to understand the game better and improve my skills.
I am committed to raising my GPA by staying well connected with my teachers and blocking out distractions. I will work on my time management and commit more time to practice and school work. I will remember to take a step back and I will be open to constructive criticism and allow it to improve my mistakes. I am very passionate about football and cannot see a future where I am not playing the game I love.
