Leadership is important to me and has always been important in my everyday life. At a young age my father always told me to be a leader and not a follower because as a young man it is easy to go on the wrong path and hang around that wrong crowd. Some leadership experiences that I have had are being captain on my football team and being a SALT student at my high school. What SALT stands for is Student Athletic Leadership Team and this honor is given to students by teachers and faculty that vote students in who showcase leadership on the field, in the community, and in the classroom. I take this very seriously because there are very few students who are selected and for me to be considered for the spot is amazing. I know that I have to be a leader for the JV and C team athletes and continue to be a leader on and off the field wherever I am. I'm also a 2nd Team all pro offensive lineman and went undefeated in the regular season. I have done numerous volunteer work at the Habitat for Humanity, built gardens and playgrounds for the Indigenous youth in Denver, and volunteered at homeless shelters, making hot meals for those in need. At Habitat for Humanity I have put in hundreds of volunteer hours because my father worked there for years. I have been a member of the Mile High UNITY program for years which stands for United National Indian Tribal Youth. In the group we would fundraise in different ways like having local car washes, writing grants, and hosting pow-wows for the community which were all very successful. Through the Denver Indian Center I was able to participate in community gardening, providing food for the elders, building playgrounds for the indigenous youth, and hosting community feeds. Through the Denver Indian Family Resource Center I was able to volunteer at a Colorado teen homeless shelter and we provide hot meals for the teenagers there as well as sanitary products and socks and other clothing. These life experiences have helped me become a better person, man, student, and athlete and I take my role in my community seriously. I would be a good candidate because I work hard and I have the work ethic and drive and my dream is to play football at the next level. I am currently bringing up my GPA, and plan on taking my SAT/ACT in February and March of 2022. If given the opportunity to play for your football program I can guarantee I that I will be a valuable asset to your University. Thank you for your time!
