I have been playing football for four years and started as punter each year. This year I was the starting Varsity punter and we finished the season 9-2. We came in second place in our 5A conference in Colorado and lost in the second round of playoffs to the Team that finished 2nd in state. I earned player of the game twice for punting and earned 2nd Team All Conference for Punting. This has been a difficult season for punting, we went through 6 long snappers in 10 games. We had about 1/2 of my snaps this year that went over my head or rolled to me. Due to this, my yards per punt and total yards didn’t show how good of a season I had. Also, we didn’t punt between the 40’s much because of our fast paced no huddle offense (less than 6 yards on 4th down we would go for it) and the inconsistency of the snaps so I didn’t have a lot of opportunities to punt inside the 20. Some of these snaps are in my highlight film and helped me earn my player of the game awards by getting the punts off during the game and not getting them blocked or touchdowns for the other team. With these inconsistent snaps I have learned how to be calm when I am back waiting for the snap and how to control myself when I am under pressure. This season has allowed me to become a better punter and shows how I can strive under the pressure from a bad snap, and during a blitz from the punt return team. My experience as a former wide receiver has given me excellent hand eye coordination and greatly assisted with the bad snaps I received. I am always looking for different ways to continue my improvement as a Punter. I am currently working with a former Louisville punter and I plan on attending the Kohl’s, Sailer, and Ray Guy’s Prokicker Camp. I attended Ray Guy’s Prokicker.com camp prior to my Junior year and I am currently ranked 18th in the Nation for the class of 2016 as of 11/20/2014 and my hangtime has improved significantly since then. I enjoy school, especially the business classes. I plan on being a business major in college and to get me ready I am currently taking 4 college level business classes this school year. I plan on taking more next year.
