Personal Statement
Growing up being a big kid and loving football I knew if I worked hard every practice that I could become a great football player. My goal for a Collegiate career is to go to a school that will provide me with a great education; as well as a school that will help define my football skills to the best that they can be. I would love to Play Division I ball, however I would be grateful to play college football at a lower level as well.
I have been on the Varsity Football Team since my Freshman year playing Offensive and Defensive Line. This year as a Junior, I was awarded All State 2nd Team for Offensive/Defensive Line. I was awarded All Conference Defensive Line as a Sophmore . My football team has made it to the playoffs since my freshman year. Limon High School has the tradition in winning, which has lead them to numerous state playoffs and victories. We have an elite history of coaches at Limon High School. I am also a member of the Limon Varsity Wrestling Team as their heavyweight. This year as a Junior I achieved great success in Wrestling! I won both the Northeast Regional Championship which allowed me to continue to the state tournament where I won the State of Colorado 2A Heavyweight Championship Title. I was awarded All State First Team for this victory. Last season as a Sophmore, I was the runner-up at the 2014 Regional Tournament and placed 5th at State also in the 2A Heavyweight division. This year I am a member of the Varsity Track Throwing Team. I have qualified for State in the Shot.
A few reasons that make me a great candidate and that sets me apart from others are, I am a coachable player who will give his all for his coach and his team. When it comes to school work I will do my best to work hard in the classroom and perform in a way that does not jeopardize me or my team. What makes me different from other recruits is, I believe that I have the kind of personality and character that will help lead my school, community and peers. I am a student athlete who has integrity in all of his work. I show leadership throughout my school, my team, and my community. I am a student who understands the importance of civic involvement in my community. I show courtesy, concern, and respect for others. I am a member of National Honor Society in my high school. I am a Band member . I have been awarded various academic awards and have been on the Principal's Honor Roll and the Regular Honor Roll. I am on the debate team which requires to communicate in large crowds as well as one-on- one interview situations.I am also on our county 4-H livestock judging team which requires the same communication skills.
I am the District 4 Colorado 4-H State 4-H President which allows me to demonstrate my leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. I hold the current office of President in our Local 4-H club too. This year on a county level I was awarded the "I Dare You" award. This award is presented to a 4-H member in good standing and challenges the member to "Stand Tall, Think Tall, Smile Tall, and Live Tall. I would like to carry these attributes with me to a college level.
I appreciate your time and the opportunity of being considered to play football on your team and I am eager to start a new chapter in my book!
Sincerely,
Jayden Hilferty
