Personal Statement

Hello, My name is Ben Woo Ching I am a 6 foot 300 pound defensive lineman from Longmont, Colorado. My ethnic background is American Samoan. My dad Sililo grew up on the island until moving to the states for college. In my family I also have my mother Jill and my two older twin sisters Christina and Maria. Growing up as the youngest helped to shape me into the person that I am today. It forced me to grow up faster and learn how much character and integrity play a role in the real world. These two attributes allowed me to become what many call a natural born leader and I still display this characteristic today by being a leader in the school, community, as well as a caption on the football team. The game of football has given me many things throughout my time playing it thus far. It has given me a love and passion that is hard to find, as well as many learning experiences along the way. I've learned to play every play as if it were your last, and if it were your last play is that how you'd like to be remembered? In addition the game as taught me discipline, respect, and teamwork skills that I will keep with me for the rest of my life. Also, hopefully someday I will be able to give back to the game I love that which it gave me by either coaching or staying as an active part of it. Football has already given me so much that for it to be able to open up doors and give me possibilities to help contribute to pay for my college education astounds me. That I may be able to attend a school that will prepare me for the life that lay ahead of me along with playing football encourages me to try my hardest in everything that I do. Whether it be playing on Friday nights, or helping someone in need I strive to do all to the best of my ability for I know when I do that I can never lose. Football has become a huge part of my life along with my family and my faith and it will be those three things that will allow me to achieve any goal that I may set for myself. For I know that my family will always support me in my decisions and will always be by my side even in the tough time, just as I will for them. Also my faith in God always leads me in the path of righteousness and I know that where ever he may lead me is for his plan for my life and that is where I must go. Lastly as for football it can open up so many doors for me. From allowing me to go to a school that will allow me to learn at a higher level. To helping my parents not have to pay for another child to go through college. These and many more are things that football can do for me and I know that given the opportunity I would grab it and run with it; giving my all every step of the way.
