My name is Akiel Lomotey. I've been around football for as long as I can remember. Playing in the backyard with my brother and dad, tossing the ball around, watching the pros on TV, football was pretty much everywhere. I started playing football at 7 years old, for the New Britain Junior Canes, and we ended up going undefeated for 5 consecutive years. Ever since I started playing, football has been an essential part of my life. I've grown immeasurably as a person because of all the lessons football taught me. How to be a part of a team, how to lead, how to persevere, how to learn from mistakes, the list is endless. I work persistently to be the best everywhere, whether it's in the weight-room, the classroom, or on the field. I've always been a leader, I can relate to others, motivate them, and get them to do the right thing. I hold my teammates accountable, on and off the field, and I make sure they, as well as myself, am consistently doing my best to improve, again on and off the field. I want to be the best version of myself that I possibly can, and that thirst is never quenched, as you can always be better in some way. My high motor and great effort comes from that simple desire, to be better, at anything and everything. I pick up on things quickly, whether it's a new play, or a new formula. I seek out help when I don't know how to do something, and readily give help to those that may need it. I take my academics seriously, if anything they take priority over sports. I've even managed to maintain an A+ GPA with diligence and discipline. Sports have always been in my life and continuing to play them is my goal. I want to play high level college football, and maybe even get to the pros if I can. I just love being around a team, giving my all, and most importantly enjoying the game.
