Personal Statement
Football isn’t just a sport for me. It’s what drives me to be better in other areas of my academic and personal life. I started playing football in the eight grade. I wasn’t the biggest fan of football, but my size compelled me to play. This was also my first year in a new town, and football was the first contact I had with people there. I was nervous but after just one practice, I already had tons of friends on the team that really made me love football. Our team was really good and while winning games was fun and all, the main thing I love about the sport is being able to not only compete against my friends, but to come together and compete against an opponent at the end of every week. Since I‘ve been playing for such a short time I strive to be the best I can and this requires me to challenge myself every day to get better, not only on the football field but in school as well.
At the end of my sophomore season, after our annual thanksgiving game, I started to cry. I walked up to my dad and hugged him because the season was over. All of the hard work I had put in throughout those few months had come to an end that night. That was one of the biggest and most life changing things to happen to me. It made me realize that playing football at the higher level was something I really wanted to do. The grind and the grit of the sport has driven me to train and become the best I can be. That drive is also shown in the classroom. I strive to get high grades and I take the highest level classes I can to keep me challenged. I believe that these aspects will make me a great student athlete in college!
