Personal Statement
John P. Iaropoli - 2020 QB
I am a well-rounded Varsity Student-Athlete at Fairfield College Preparatory School who takes Honors and AP classes to maintain a 3.8 grade point average. Competition fuels me on and off the field. As a member of the National Honors Society, I have achieved the Summa or Magna Cum Laude honor each academic year at Prep. Accordingly I serve as a student tutor for teammates and piers of mine. Outside of my comfort zone I volunteer for the McGivney Center in Bridgeport to be of service to the youth in my area.
Playing football has been an important part of my life since second grade. Working hard to earn the starting quarterback position every year has taught me leadership, cooperation and strategic skills that I couldn’t get anywhere else. My record so far as the Prep starting QB is 14-2 (4-0: Sophomore year I led the team to the CT State LL Quarterfinals; 10-2: Junior year I led us to the CT State LL Semifinals). In 2018, I led the conference in every passing statistic and was selected as the Tier 1, All-SCC Quarterback.
In addition to football, I am also on the Varsity Track & Field team at Fairfield Prep. I ran 2nd leg of the Varsity Track 4 x 100 relay team which set the school record. I earned the Fairfield Prep Track & Field Coaches’ Award for my contributions to the team as a sprinter. This spring I will add the long jump and 200 meter race to my arsenal, keeping me busy with 4 events.
I graduate in 2020 and plan on playing competitive college football, earning a degree in Finance, and contributing to a richly tranditioned campus. I would be a valuable part of any college program because of my drive to win from the quarterback position.
