Personal Statement
Being over 6 feet tall and almost weighing 200 lbs in the eighth grade, many people see me and automatically think football. However, I strive to be so much more than just a football player. Now that I have two younger siblings, I want nothing more than to be a great big-brother and someone they could aspire to be like. I must make sure that I hold myself to a high standard on and off the field so they could be proud of me. I am blessed to have the family that I have as I know some kids are not as lucky as me to have the structure and support that I have within my family.
The same approach I take with my family life is the same approach I take with community I live in as well as the athletic teams that I play for. My position amongst my peers has been that of a leader and if my character falls anywhere short of being dedicated, putting others before myself, studious, and having integrity then there is no way I can effectively be a leader to my siblings, in my community and amongst my teammates.
I understand that I do have the talent to be a great college football player one day, however, talent can only get you so far. I look forward to continuing to work hard day in and out to improve myself as a person, student and athlete. I would cherish any opportunity afforded to me to further my education and playing career.
