Personal Statement
Football has been my passion since I first began playing in the third grade. Football has taught me many things including, discipline, integrity, perseverance, and respect. I shoulder these lessons on and off the field. I pride myself on excelling academically, maintaining an A average throughout school.
Honestly it's my competitive spirit that pushes me to perform to the best of my ability. I have an identical twin who encourages me just as much as I encourage him. He participates in all my activities, football and wrestling. Having an individual that competes just as hard against you all the time only makes both parties better. The competition isn't only on the field but in school also, we consistently strive to achieve and over-achieve on the grade scale.
I have many strengths and have been working on addressing my weaknesses at the sport of football. In watching film I found that a severe weakness of mine was my pass coverage. Over this past summer I have improved my defensive coverage skills exponentially through my participation in a 7v7 league and tournament. I believe that identifying weaknesses in how you play helps to better yourself. I want to expand my game, not turn a blind eye to the little things that will improve it in the long run.
Being part of a successful team that will stay together is the only way to be great at this sport. My most favored aspect of this sport is helping my teammates excel and improve their game along side of me. When that work is put on display on the field it's like no other feeling. When you're as proud of your teammate's as they are of you that bond and respect is never lost.
The ultimate goal for me is to use football as a means to acquire higher education. I plan to major in sports medicine and rehabilitation. I want to doing something I love and in turn I will gain something that will expand my future opportunities. For me that's a foolproof plan.
