Personal Statement
My name is Donovan D. Delaney Jr. and I am a three year varsity football letterman with aspirations of becoming a collegiate student-athlete. Sports have always been a massive part of my life, ever since I started playing football at the age of eight. I have played at many different levels ranging from travel football to my current role in high school football.
As a result of my dedication and perseverance, this year, as a junior, I was chosen as 1st team All-Conference Division 1 linebacker, 3rd Team All-State Linebacker, player of the week from Dream Scouting Network, St George’s Widner Leader and All-Conference Academic. In 2018, I earned 1st team All-State Academic. In 2017, I received All-Conference Academic.
On the football field, I am highly versatile. I am utilized in many different packages in order to help add variety to our gameplans. I can be used as a speed rusher off the edge on defense, or drop back into coverage to play man to man. (Outside Linebacker, Free Safety and Middle Linebacker) This past season, I lead my team in tackles and tackles for loss.
On the offensive side of the ball, I can be utilized to set blocks off the edge, or go out into routes.I have experience at tight end, slot and running back.
While playing high school football, I have maintained a 3.7 overall GPA. I believe that my passion and commitment to the sport has also helped me to develop a much stronger understanding of myself. l can attribute much of my personal development and success to my involvement in sports. Maintaining good grades and setting high academic goals for myself are equally as important as my success on the football field.
Due to my work ethic and commitment to football and academics, I strongly believe that I can compete at any level and excel in both football and academics, if I am offered the opportunity to do so. Now in 2021 I have decided to attend Milford Academy to get another year of experience and be recruited in the class of 2022!!
