Personal Statement
The important things to know about me are that I am an improving and outgoing leader in a highly competitive environment.
-
Fairfield Prep is considered “most competitive” both academically and athletically. My football team is in the largest school class and frequently makes the playoffs. In 2019 (my first year on varsity), we missed the playoffs by one game, but we beat one of the teams that made the playoffs and we had very competitive games (particularly defensively) against the two teams in the state championship game. I played strong-side DE against some of the largest and most highly rated players in our state. - Academically – 2.9 of 4.0 GPA Junior Year (impressive grades and final exams with one tough class pulling things down). After an initial adjustment to Prep’s tough curriculum and competition as freshman and sophomore, this is a product of learning from football how effort equals results and I've put in extra time with evening tutoring. I am committed to close to 4.0 for Senior Year and to pull my Cum. GPA close to 3.0.
- Athletically – In delivering my “Most Improved Player” award after my Junior season (in which I started and finished every game), my coach commented on my dedication to my craft, evolution through the year and coachability to cover different positions. In the post-season, I now work with two trainers, working out constantly and putting on weight. As a Junior, entered the year at 5’11” and 170 lbs and I am now 6’3” and 230 lbs and (per my doctor) still growing.
- Personally – I’ve loved the camaraderie of football, as I am an outgoing person. While I’m not one of the captains for next year, I act like a captain and I am accept as one by my coaches, my teammates and captains who are my among my best friends. A source of my motivation is my little brother, Robby, who has Down syndrome. I see how hard he works to master the simplest of tasks and the joy it brings him. It makes me work harder. I prepare for and play every game like it’s my last. I want to study engineering and/or economics to build my knowledge and because I am math oriented, but I will probably seek a career in sales as I enjoy helping others and communicating. For those reasons, at Prep I participated in the milestone c engineering and aviation programs.
