Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me
I played my first football game when I was in the 5th grade with the East Manatee Bulldogs. I fell in love with the sport. I always knew that I was athletic, but through football, I discovered one other thing about myself: I have the courage to never give up no matter how tough things may get.
I achieved my high school academic goal of graduating in 2020 with a 3.0 GPA . I played all four years of my high school career. However, I did sustain a shoulder injury in my sophomore year. I continued to play without fully knowing how bad my shoulder was injured. I should have took note, as it affected my time on the field. At the end of my senior year, I finally underwent surgery for my injured shoulder. After a few months, I began physical therapy.
Because I was still healing and going to therapy, I began my college career virtually for a year at ASA Junior College in Miami, Florida. During the summer of 2021. In the summer of 2021 I began attending classes at ASA and joined the football team as a running back and slot receiver. Unfortunately, I decided not to continue my education in person at the college after the tragic shooting and death of a fellow player who had been killed in our residence.
I resumed my studies virtually. I will receive my AA degree in December 2021. I have kept my focus on my academics by maintaining a 3.5 GPA. I am looking to transfer to a school where I can complete my 4 year degree, and of course play football.
Since my time away from football, I have had some time to reflect on my goals in life. While my education and career goals are important to me, I still love the game of football. I cannot wait to get back on the field!
Since high school, I am more mature and even more focused on what I want for my life. I am strong mentally, physically, and spiritually. I am focused and driven with every opportunity provided to me. No matter how discouraging things may seem, I never give up. My work ethic, leadership, and integrity will make a positive and immediate impact on a college. I am ready for this next journey in my life.
