Personal Statement
I am looking forward to continuing my education and athletics at the next level. I would like to obtain a teaching degree in U.S. History with a secondary in sports management. My ultimate goal would be to teach and be a high school football coach so I can inspire the next generation on and off the field.
I have the ability to adapt quickly. I had to move during the middle of my freshman year, to a new school in a new state. I walked into the head football coach’s office and told him I am here to play football for him. I was given a spot on the team. I was nervous about the new environment and the first day of practice. As luck would have it I was called out by the head coach for 1 on 1 drills. While heading to the circle the chants of “FRESH MEAT” began. I won my first round and I never looked back. I progressed through the season on the scout team pushing ALL the upperclassman EVERYDAY to the point of a confrontation after practice. I was asked why I was going so hard every play. I told them it was simple…If I do not push hard every play, everyday you will not reach your full potential nor will I. I feel this was a turning point in their respect towards me as a teammate and a hard worker.
I have played the game since I was 4 years old and have dreamed of playing college football as long as I can remember. When faced with a challenge I tackle it head on with the mindset to conquer it and I do. I have 2 more years of high school to shape myself into a better athlete while keeping my academics superior. I feel these root qualities are the foundation that makes me a great candidate for your team.
