Personal Statement
Hello my name is Amonte' Gwinn I am a 6'4" 208 pound sophomore at Erie community college. I started playing football at 6 years old and that's when I knew I wanted to play football in college and professionally. When I was younger I played many positions from RB, LB, DE, and WR. I have always been a workhorse on the field and I loved the feeling of working with my team even if we didn't always win; I was good at pushing my teammates to do their best and giving 100% of myself to every game.
My 9th grade year entering into high school I decided not to play football because I was struggling, trying to figure out where I fit in on and off the field. I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. When the season started I would go and watch the football games and I realized that I made the wrong decision in not joining the team. Later that year I started training hard for my 10th grade year because I had fallen behind and training is all I did for the rest of the school year into summer to make sure I was ready for next year's season. My 10th grade year I was only 5'5 however I started OLB and also played RB and became a captain as a sophomore.
My junior year my family moved me from Pittsburgh PA to Florida for me to play football and give me a chance to live my dream. I have been taking advantage of every opportunity that has been given to me on and off the field. My teachers challenge me in the classroom every day and have pushed me to become the 3.5 GPA students that I am today. My teammates and Coach Don Stark has pushed me to be a better athlete. I have completely transformed my life as a student and as an athlete since moving.
Some of the reasons I would be a great addition to any team is because I am a team player, a leader, quick learner, focused, diligent, determined and for me FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION. So I am ready and looking for the right college to help me with the next step in becoming the highest caliber of student, player, man and friend any athletic program would be happy to have on their team.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to hearing and possibly working with you.
