Personal Statement
My name is Dylan Cox and my passion is football. I know so many say that, but I can honestly say it comes from my heart. Nothing makes me feel as good as I do when I put on my pads and helmet and run on the field. I don't care if it's practice or game, it's all the same feeling. My height is 6'1" and my weight is between 235-240 lbs. I've been told that I am fast for my size and I am getting faster everyday. I am a hard worker and I will not let you down.
I was asked to join my varsity team the first week of summer practices as an incoming freshman. I was only the fourth freshman in the history of the school to be asked to step up to the varsity level, according to my coaches. I not only joined the team, I was also a starter. My freshman season, as a starter, my coaches named me most improved player and I lettered that year for football. During my sophmore season, my position was offensive guard. I was the pulling guard that helped our running back earn over 2000 rushing yards for that season. That year I was named all county lineman and honorable mention, district lineman as well as being given an honor for having a 4.0 gpa during football season. In my junior season, I primarily played offensive, pulling guard, but I also played some as fullback, linebacker and defensive tackle in preparation for my senior season. I was named all county and district lineman for my junior season.
In addition to playing football, I am also a member of my high school's weightlifting team. As a freshman, I lifted in the heavy weight division. I was the first freshman at my school to lift a combined weight over 500 lbs. As a sophmore and junior I lifted in the 238 lb division. This year, as a junior, I competed at the state weighlifting championship in Kissimmee, Florida and I was overall 7th place in the state.
I am a member of the National Honor Society, an accomplishment that I am very proud of. I am also taking college level math courses in conjunction with my academic high school classes. My gpa has been and continues to be between 4.0-3.7 consistently throughout high school. I am also a volunteer for our local Miracle League ball teams. I assist mentally challenged children and adults and help them have a rewarding and fun experience playing baseball.
I am a leader both on and off the field, and as I stated above, I will not let you down. Give me the opportunity to prove myself.
Thank you, Dylan Cox
