As a very active child, my parents found the value in keeping me active in sports from a young age. I’ve been involved in almost every sport from karate, to baseball, basketball, soccer, golf, swimming and football. It wasn’t till we moved from Italy to Florida at the age of 9 that I finally was introduced to Football, since it wasn’t available to my age group overseas. I’ve been “all-in” football since. While living in Italy, I played on a competitive soccer team. This experience taught the value of teamwork, dedication and dependability. I learned to trust my teammates in their roles and ensure they could trust me in mine. This means being dedicated to the team, having a common goal and being there for them on and off the field. I now utilize these team characteristics when playing football. I am passionate about playing football and am devoted to playing at the college level.
Coming from a military family, I found the value in diversity. Living in Italy and traveling to different countries opened my eyes up to the different cultures and how to see the strengths and benefits in variety and what is different from me. This ability to find the strengths in people and situations, especially my teammates, allows me to help them become the best they can be and the team become as strong as it can be. This trait is one of the reasons I ultimately want to pursue a goal of becoming a Football Coach, focusing my studies on Sports Management.
This coming football season, I plan on being a team leader and team captain. My grades are also a focus for me, and I find it vital to balance my studies with my athletic commitment. In doing so, I can honor my parents and the Lord for the blessings they have given me. Another priority in my life is strengthening my relationship with God. Growing spiritually is as important as growing athletically, so finding a place to help me accomplish both is essential.
