Our team made it to the post season playoffs in 2015 and beat one of the top teams in the state (Lincoln HS in Tallahassee) for the first time in team history! Last year, our varsity squad was 1/9. This year we had a winning season and made it to the playoffs. I was a starter on the team that made history at our school.
My sophomore season, I played defensive end. My junior year, I played tight end. I have also played and practiced at full back, safety and quarterback. I am always willing to take on the challenge of learning a position and my attitude is that I will play in any position that will help my team. I love to be on the football field.
I have been on my school’s weightlifting team the past two seasons and I have placed at several unofficial meets in my weight class this season. I enjoy weightlifting because it helps me develop as a football player and gives me additional opportunities to compete.
I did not start playing tackle football until my 7th grade year. After my first year of playing, I was hooked. I have worked hard in season and off-season to be a team contributor. I am in the weight room year round and I work hard to improve my strength, speed and agility. I attended several different summer football camps to improve my skills and recently attend a combine, where I was selected as one of the top lineman of the combine. My second JV season, I was selected by the coaches to be team captain in the last two games of this past season.
I am interested in attending a Division II or Division III school with quality academic programs. I have an unweighted GPA of 3.48 and a weighted GPA of 3.78. I plan to take the SAT and ACT in the spring of my Junior year. I would like to major in engineering. I want the opportunity to pursue a rigorous academic program, but also be able to continue playing and contributing on the football field.
