My name is Thomas Ellis and my dream is to be able to fund my education with the talents and abilities that God has given me. My education is the goal and athletics are the means. I know that I am a student athlete and that academics come first. My goal for life is to become either an optometrist or physical therapist so the college that I attend would have to fit within the academic goals I have for my life.
I have been playing organized football since I was 7 years old. I have had the opportunity to be coached by some excellent coaches that have placed a firm foundation of the game in my life. I have always had the right body size for the game and have been playing on the line since I started. I am currently 6'3", 245 as a freshman in high school, but hopefully I will grow a couple more inches. My favorite thing about playing the line is that I get to have contact every single play. I don't have to be the one running the ball to know I am making a difference. It is all about the team and I have my role to play. I make holes, set blocks and clear a path for those guys behind me. One of my favorite things is to get down field and make blocks on linebackers and safeties.
As a freshman, I worked my way to the starting OG position of the JV team and made the second team Varsity. In eight grade I was voted the Offensive Lineman of the year. Going into my sophomore year, I expect and have been told that I will be a Varsity starter at either the OG or Tackle position. I have played both and have also played center as well.
I have kept a 3.5+ GPA for all of my Jr. and Sr. High career to date. I have also been an all A and B Honor Roll student as well. I will be taking the ACT as I get closer to my graduation date. I am very active in my local church and have many outside pursuits as well. I know that I will make a positive addition to the right institution and look forward to being part of a successful program.
