During summer conditioning before my sophomore year, I was in a freak accident and broke my face in 6 places - landing me in ICU and off the field for 9 weeks. I was working so hard to get that WR starting position in the fall, and all that came to a quick stop with my injury. Not gonna lie - I was mad. I had a plan, and that plan was ruined...or so I thought.
Miraculously, my injuries did not require major surgery! I live in Florida, and Hurricane Irma hit us right around the start of our season, pushing our games back a couple weeks. I only missed two games! I didn't start, but I worked hard in practice and got a lot of play time (check out my sophomore video). And more than anything, the time out taught me a couple lessons - perseverance - but also - that this can be over in a flash, so school has to be important.
Football will always be my first love, whether I'm playing or not. I am in the Nursing program at my school with goals to become a Nurse Practitioner one day. My parents have always told me that at some point in my life, football will end - whether that's high school, college, or Pro - but it WILL end. And my career needs to be ready to keep me going afterwards.
I trust God with my future, and that includes what college I go to, what Coach I work underneath, and what I end up doing in my life. I know it's my responsibility to work hard and stay focused while He's working it out.
