Albert Craig (CJ) Hawkins '23 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to attend college as a student-athlete. My dream for as long as I can remember has been to play football at LSU but as I have grown up I know that some dreams may not always become the best fit for us in reality.  Therefore, I will be honored and blessed to be given the opportunity to play football at the next level for a coach and college that ultimately becomes the best fit for myself, my abilities, and the team overall.  

I am completing my freshman year of high school as a proud and honored Calhoun Yellow Jacket. I have spent many fall football seasons looking up to many amazing role models who have given me lots of great advice and athletic tips along the way.  Hard work, integrity and teamwork are the most common denominators in all the athletic advice I have been given.  I feel that my work ethic, never complain or give up attitude will be an asset to any team. I believe in paying my dues and working as a team in order to achieve the big picture goal.

 I would describe my character as selfless, hardworking, focused, and determined to achieve my goals.  I believe that athletics is more than just football. Athletics is the sacrificing of self for the good of others. Its brotherhood, family in good times and bad. It is forever memories and friendships that last a lifetime.  Athletics is pushing yourself when you think you can't go another step and feeling the adrenaline rush of pride when you achieve success all while others don't think you can or will. 

Academics is the knowledge that leads to wisdom and ultimately success in life.  Academics is a priority before athletics, in my opinion.  A strong work ethic, focus and organization is built in the classroom and will ultimately carry over to the field.  I take pride in my grades and doing the best I can in all of my classes. I work hard on and off the field to maintain a 4.0 GPA.
