Personal Statement

(Sophomore Year) My name is Greyson Lambert and I'm the quarterback for the Wayne County Yellow Jackets in Jesup, Georgia. I'm a (6'5", 185lbs. sophomore. I started the season as the backup to the returning starter from last year. Due to my hard work that I showed to my coach in prior practices, I was able to split time with the then, starting quarterback. During that game, he unfortunately was injured and was supposed to be out for several weeks, naming me the starter. I already had good relationships with all the starters by that point, so it was pretty easy for me to jump into the starting role when it came to earning their respect. I've been told I'm a good leader by my coaches, teachers, parents, players, etc. all my life. This year, partly because of me being younger, I led more by my actions than words. About three fourths into the season the previous starting quarterback became healthy again. I maintained my starting job even when he came back. Despite our record, many people would look at our season and call it a success. Wayne County's Football team has had a record of 1-9 for three consecutive years before this past year. Wayne County's base offense is the Wing T. This offense does't give me many chances to throw the ball. I probably averaged only 8 - 10 passes per game. However, against Statesboro High I threw 26 passes. I completed 13 of them for 128 yards. This was probably not my best game though. Against Effingham County, I only completed 3 of 7 passes, but 2 of those passes went for touchdowns and the other was a 40 yard completion. We do run plays out of the shotgun, but only about 10% of the time. I'm looking for good athletic schools, but more importantly good academic schools. I would be humbled and thrilled to play football at any level or school. The academic aspect would play a major role because my goal is to get accepted in to medical school after college, or to play in the NFL. Schools that will best prepare me for life after college, in addition to schools that have a feeling of family and "home" are schools that will appeal to me the most. I'm a Christian and my faith is what drives me in athletics and academics. My overall GPA ranges from 3.8-4.0. I'm always committed to getting better at every phase of the position, My priorities are, and always will be, my faith, my family, academics, and sports. My drive and determination are evident in all aspects of my life.       UPDATE  *Since originally writing this personal statement our school has hired a new coach, Jody Grooms. Coach Grooms implemented a more pass friendly offense, so I love it. I'm now 6'5", 210 lbs. I attended several camps during my sophomore summer, including Clemson and the University of Alabama, where I led my "Bama Ball" team to the camp championship and received my first verbal offer. I also made it to the national NUC camp where I won overall QB MVP at the University of Oklahoma. I just thank God for the attention and offers that I've received so far. It's such a blessing and dream come true for me. My family and I are considering each school carefully and looking for the opportunity that fits me and my future best. Thanks so much for checking out my profile. You can also see my junior highlights at http://www.hudl.com/athlete/249187/greyson-lambert Thanks and God Bless.
