Personal Statement
My name is Tyrell Brown and I attend Banneker High School in College Park, Ga. I am listed as an athlete but my primary postions are Rb and Db. I am 5'11, 190 lbs, and I run a 4.50 40 meter. I also bench 280 and squat 450. I run a 4.1 in the shuttle and have a 30 inch vertical. I believe that I am a natural born leader, but I also follow directions given to me and I understand the importance of self-checking. I am currently one of the team captains and I am proud yet humbled to say that my teammates look to me for encouragement when times get rough. Despite playing most of the last season with a strained hamstring, I had 126 carries for a total of 1062 yards, 10 touchdowns, 2 interceptions and 25 tackles. I was born in Pennsylvania, but I've been in Georgia most of my life. The position(s) I play in college doesn't matter as long as I can contribute the best of me to the team at the highest level of competition possible. I am interested in schools that are big on academics as well as sports. I want to major in either Broadcast/Communications or Sports Management and minor in the other. I currently take AP and Honor classes and have a 3.2 GPA. I have been raised by my single mother who as an educator has DEFINITELY instilled in me the importance of an education beyond highs school. Beyond my love of the sport this is why I work hard and push myself in the classroom as well as on the field. I work hard so that I can qualify for grants and scholarships in order to pursue higher education and not let the burden fall to my mom. My goal/dream is to play on the Division 1 level, if that is where I am fit to be skill wise. Wherever I end up, I do know that the school will receive a student-athlete that is dedicated to his team, has great work-ethic and always gives 200% to get the job done.
