Personal Statement

First and foremost, I am a Christian. The Lord has blessed me with good leadership skills and size. My skills on the football field have finally caught up to my body size. I was voted most improved player on the JV this year. I have increase my bench press by about 40 pounds this past football season. My squat has increased greatly as well. Wrestling has helped shape my body further and improve my speed and coordination. I was nominated as captain for 2 of the 6 JV games including our "Big Arch Rival". I particpated in 3 varsity games accumulating over 4 quarters of play. I am a beta club and National Honor Society member. I am also one of the leaders in our youth group at church. I have grown 3 inches and added 20 pounds during the last year. My body has went from overweight to a solid lineman frame. Due to other lineman leaving the team during the season, I had to step up and become the leader of the offensive line. The transition took place in our third game of the season. From that point forward, the coaches had the confidence to run plays behind me almost exclusively, including making new plays to tap into my new skillset. I delivered a pancake block in a varsity game to clear the whole left side for a 60 yard touchdown run. I am a Christian first, student second, and then an athlete. I would not embarrass any college with discipline problems. My college major is yet to be determined. Updated after my junior year: please note the following changes. Named most improved player on the offensive side of the ball for the second year in a row. Started all 10 games of my junior year. Allowed 2 or 3 sacks in the season. I only had 2 penalty flags against me, both were holding. Just came off of a highly succesful spring practice and game. Received coaches accolades for leadership and improvement both on the field and off. As you will see in my transcript I have a 3.7 GPA and a very acceptable SAT score. This will allow me to attend almost any college on academic scholarships and reserve funds earmarked for athletics. Video will follow and be posted soon. I am also very dedicated in the weightroom and set personal goals. I have improved my bench press by about 60 pounds in the last 2 and a half months. During that same period I improved my squat by approximately 50 pounds. I was named to the Region 2-AA All Academic Team and 2nd Team All Region my senior year.
