Personal Statement

My dream is to play division 1 football for one of my favorite colleges. I know that is a big dream. I also know that to achieve that dream I need to go out and work my butt off.  I am working on getting bigger, stronger, and faster. Playing this past season (2014) on varsity, has shown me what I need to work on and that there are other players trying to achieve the dream I have. I will never quit during a game no matter what the score is. I am also going to be the best student I can be in the classroom. I know that having bad grades can prevent an athlete out from earning a scholarship, so I don't want that to be me. I also play basketball and run track. I will always try to be the best I can be at everything I do. I listen to all my coaches and have a great amount of respect for all of them. They were once a high school athlete and know what it takes to become a collegiate athlete. I received the following honors during my sophomore season:

  • Georgia class 5A First Team for Region 7 Kick Returner
  • All-Cherokee County, GA First Team Kick Returner
  • Georgia Class 5A All Sub-Region for 7A First Team Defense Defensive back & Kick Returner
  • River Ridge Overall Most Improved Player. Cherokee County Grid Iron Club returner of the year 2014.

  • Coaches paid special attention to the Seniors, jerseys were issued by class versus Offense versus Defense. Very Solid Performance in both the position drills and one on ones, the classes were combined in the position drills only, first or second player in each drill, caught all balls at the highest point, did not loss footing, however the drills were not as advanced as Mercer, loss 20 minutes due to lighting, Top Underclassmen DB, played very aggressively, made a beautiful interception, recovered very well had three pass breakouts, broke well to the football only gave up two completions, one on an underneath route but he almost stripped the football, and one touchdown after he slipped, received several high fives from the same position coach who greeted him at the registration desk and call Jarrod a rookie because he was an underclassmen. Came in second place in the group 40 yard dash sprint at the end of the camp versus all of the DBs. He needs to prepare better for the testing 40 yd dash and broad jump. Very proud of his performance. I wish he had the opportunity to compete in the one on one's with the top seniors. He was very aggressive in press coverage throughout the one ones frustrating the receivers and shutting them down, although the receiver had half of the width of the field
  • Camp/Event
  • Cherokee County Shotout
  • 6/20/15 to 6/20/15
  • First event at Safety played free &strong but no time at corner, 1 interception and a couple of break ups. Very solid Performance on offense, scored 7 touchdowns at slot receiver, was the go to player when a key play was needed to win game or get a first down, competitive spirit and aggressiveness was off the charts, he was amped or pumped up due to the Cherokee Ledger picture of Derrion and him.
  • Camp/Event
  • Kennesaw State Prospect Camp #1
  • 6/14/15 to 6/14/15
  • Hottest Day of the year cramped in the 40 yard dash, recovered well in the position drills, solid Performance in both press and off man, over 350 athletes attended, competed very well, got stronger throughout the competition.

  • Mercer University Senior Prospect Camp #1
  • 6/05/15 to 6/05/15
  • Great Workout, learned new drills, solid job in press coverage made first interception during offense versus defense for all defensive players, had several pass breakups. Feedback From Coach Cain Area Recruiter/Defensive Assistant & Special Teams - Jarrod Did Great, Wants Film after first Three Games - Originally Thought Jarrod was a senior, Unofficial 40 time of 4.55 from Stands, Official Time not shared, showed more aggressiveness while in Press Coverage, needs to continue working on footwork drills - occasionally loss footing

  • NUC Prospect Camp
  • 5/30/15 to 5/30/15
  • First camp of the season, Ranked #1 Defensive Player, Ranked #5 player Overall, MPV - DBs, Published Scouting Report on internet - Looked Natural dropping into coverage, Smooth Backpedal, Good Recovery Speed, Breaks Well on Ball, Takes Great Attack Angels, Hard Worker and Coachable, Great route recognition, Need to Increase Aggressiveness while in Press coverage Invited to Georgia Ultimate 100. Subsequently, received an invitation to the July 25th Top Prospect and Rising Star Camp in Texas based upon his performance from this event.
